Brendan Read
Brendan Read is a business journalist who writes about site selection, real estate, facilities,staffing,
training, outsourcing and teleworking.
Brendan is author of Home Workplace, a how-to guide for home working for employers and employees
published by CMP Books. He is also author of Designing the Best Call Center for Your Business and
co-author, with Chief Technical Editor Joseph Fleischer of The Complete Guide to Customer Support,
also published by CMP Books. Both books have sections on teleworking. Brendan has spoken at and
moderated conference sessions on teleworking
Brendan walks the walk on teleworking. He works from his home in Courtenay, British Columbia,
Canada, in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. He has also worked from homes in New York, New Hampshire,
Washington State and the UK.
Brendan is an ardent teleworking advocate. He is a member of the Comox Valley Home-Based Business
Association and has campaigned to liberalize his community's home-based business bylaw. A director of
Transport 2000 BC, Canada's transportation users' organization Brendan has lobbied to include teleworking
in organization policy papers and to promote teleworking as a transportation alternative in Victoria, BC-area
transportation and land-use studies.
