MOTORISTS FACE “TERRIBLE TRAFFIC TUESDAY” at a TERRIBLE PRICE
Telework Coalition Recommends Telecommuting as THE One Immediate Remedy to Reducing Gas Consumption and Saving at the Pump
As the cost of gasoline reaches mind-numbing heights and motorists face mind-numbing gridlock with the end of summer vacations, kids back in school, and Congress back in session, what can be done NOW to reduce the pain at the pumps and, at the same time, traffic congestion?
Telecommuting has long been seen as an answer to many issues that face us today. Properly developed distributed work programs help businesses reduce real estate needs and costs, reduce employee turnover, and realize increased employee productivity. Employees have greater work life balance and reduced commuting costs. We all benefit from less traffic congestion and better air quality. Today's big reason is $3 to $4 per gallon fuel costs that affect us all.
During a news conference Friday, September 2, a coalition of leading experts will assess progress and failure in tackling these two evils. The Telework Coalition will propose that all who can telecommute at least two days a week which will reduce their gas consumption, and cost, by 40%.
These hot-button issues will be covered by the panel:
