Joyce Shimizu
Vice President and General Manager, Home and Home Office, Plantronics, Inc.
Joyce Shimizu joined Plantronics in July 1983, and has held several senior
positions in product management, marketing, business development, OEM
sales, and general management.
Ms. Shimizu led Plantronics' entry into the embryonic mobile headset market
in 1999 as President of the Mobile Communications Division. From 1999 to
2002 she helped drive industry standards and awareness for this new headset
category with a focus on customer needs and high quality performance.
During this time she also introduced the best-selling headsets, MX150 and
M130 Blurple (one of the first headsets offered in a color other than black!)
From 2002 to 2005, she took on worldwide portfolio and product management
esponsibilities for Plantronics.
In 2005, Ms. Shimizu became the Vice President and General Manager of the
Home and Home Office (H2O) business unit, a newly established organization
at Plantronics chartered to take advantage of early stage market and lifestyle
trends. Target segments include self-employed Home Professionals, Teleworkers
and Micro Businesses (businesses with 1-9 employees).
Ms. Shimizu led the development and introduction of Calisto Pro in October
2007, an innovative hands-free phone system designed specifically for work-
at-home professionals who need hands-free mobility and the versatility of
landline, VoIP and mobile calling. Ms. Shimizu is currently working with leading
companies and agencies to facilitate and enable growth of this dynamic new
“way of doing work” that aids in life balance, business continuity, and
environmental citizenship.
Ms. Shimizu holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from The
Monterey Institute of International Studies and a Bachelor's Degree in
Japanese from the University of California at Los Angeles.
