Telecommuter - Do you have the right stuff?

The main criteria for the selection of a telecommuter should include:

1.  The ability to work with minimal supervision and feedback

2.  Being self motivated

     3.  A record of consistently following policy & procedures

4.  Good organizational skills - to structure time, meet deadlines, and control work   

        flow

5.  Consistently good productivity

     6.  Technologically literate - have experience w/relevant hardware, software, and   

           equipment

     7.   Having clear & consistent communication skills

    8.   An ability to work independently without the constant need for social contact

    9.   A record of reliability - few, if any, unexcused absences

  10. A home office environment suitable for telework, including Internet     

         connectivity

Telework should not be used as a substitute for child or elder care.
