John M. H. Edwards
John M. H. Edwards is Past President (2000 and 2001) of the International Teleworking Association and Council (ITAC), President and CEO of the TeleworkNetwork and Telework Analytics, Inc. He served on the National and DC Metro Telecommuting and Air Quality Act (TAQA) Steering Committees of the eCommute pilot, and on the Northern VA Technology Council (NVTC) Transport Committee and as Chair of the NVTC Telecommuting Task Force. John is VP Business Developments for TeleTrips Inc., the vehicle emissions reduction & miles avoided tracking system. He served as advisor to the Internet Governance Committee of JCOTS (Joint Commission on Technology & Science) for the Commonwealth of VA. Past Director Commuter Choice™ Initiatives (2000).
His expertise and desire to champion teleworking, have gained him leadership positions on numerous industry councils, including a two term President of the Mid-Atlantic Teleworking Advisory Council (MATAC) (1997-1999), as Chairman of the Greater Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG) Telecommuting Ad-hoc Group (1999-2000), and as Co-Chair of the National Environmental Policy Institute (NEPI) Smart Growth & Telework Working Group (1999).
Mr. Edwards has guest lectured at American University and Johns Hopkins' University Graduate studies series, and is currently a USDA Graduate School Faculty Member, teaching two courses: a 2-day course on the Implementation of Telework Programs and a 2-day course on Managing Remote Workforces.
He researches the trends and impact of teleworking on employers, their employees, society, and the environment. Armed with his up-to-date research, he consults both local and international corporations and governments. As CEO of Telework Analytics International, Inc. (TAI), he has co-created its main product - an expert software suite for the capture and analysis of telework related parameters for management decision-making - TeleworkAudits™, TeleworkAnalysys™ and TeleworkProfiler™.
Due to his teleworking research experience, John has been quoted in Home Office Computing, Inc.Magazine, CNNfn, CNN, EXBTV.com, Business Talk Radio, New Technology Week, Voice of Technology, Potomac Tech Journal, The Washington Post, New York Times, Washington Business Journal, INSIDEBIZ.com, “Cool HR Software”, HR Executive, Focus (USOPM), Kiplinger's Personal Finance, Public Employment law Report and Telecommute magazine. Mr. Edwards has presented in the U.S. and abroad on numerous topics related to teleworking. Some of these include the AT&T Telework America Action Summit Series, to the Indosat Conference: Ensuring National Competitiveness in the Information Economy on behalf of the World Bank in Jakarta, to the International Quality & Productivity Center, to AASHTO (Am. Assoc. of State Highway & Transportation Officials): Impact of Telework on Transportation Patterns.
As a writer, John has co-authored, Top 10 Telework Checklist for Continuity Plans (11/01), Minimize Personal and Corporate Y2K Risk with Telework (2/99), and The Virtual Office: Telework and the Tax Professional, Journal of Property Tax Management (1999). He authored Telecommuter/Teleworker Selection, Northern Virginia Technology Council's Voice of Technology (3/2001), Assessing Your Organization's Readiness for Teleworking, The Public Manager (Fall 2001) and Workshop #4 of Telework America™ 1999 asynchronous curriculum: Planning The Telework Program (2/99). He also writes as a co-author under the pseudonym “The Telework Guys™”.
He holds a US Patent #6247005 for an “Expert system for research, data collection & analysis.”
